Oral Rehydration Salts
A simple sachet of salts and sugar that, mixed with clean water, replaces fluids lost through diarrhoea and vomiting.

What it’s used for
- Preventing and treating dehydration from diarrhoea
- Rehydration after vomiting
How to take it
Mix one sachet with the exact amount of clean drinking water shown on the pack. Give small, frequent sips. Use within 24 hours. For children, continue until the diarrhoea stops, and give zinc for 10 to 14 days as advised by a pharmacist.

Common side effects
- Mild vomiting if drunk too fast (slow down)
Warnings
- Always use the exact amount of water on the pack
- Seek urgent help for blood in stool, a very drowsy child, no urine for 6 hours, or diarrhoea in a baby under 6 months
