A first-line treatment for uncomplicated malaria in Ghana. It works quickly and must be taken as a full three-day course.

What it’s used for
- Treatment of confirmed uncomplicated malaria
How to take it
The usual course is 6 doses over 3 days. Take the second dose 8 hours after the first, then twice a day for the next 2 days. The dose depends on body weight, so a pharmacist will tell you exactly how many tablets to take. Take each dose with food or milk, as fatty food helps the body absorb the medicine.

- Nausea or stomach pain
- Tiredness
- Joint or muscle pain
Warnings
- Test before you treat. A malaria rapid test confirms you need it
- Finish the whole course even if you feel better
- If you vomit within an hour of a dose, take that dose again
- Tell us if you are pregnant, have heart problems, or take other medicines
- Severe malaria needs hospital treatment, not tablets
